About Me and My Approach
The experience, values and understanding behind Calming Path Therapy.

My name is Duane, and I am a qualified person-centred hypnotherapist and a registered member of the National Hypnotherapy Society.
My practice is supported by appropriate professional insurance and a commitment to working ethically, safely, and within the boundaries of my training and competence.
I have more than ten years of experience working within mental health and substance misuse services, supporting people affected by addiction, homelessness, trauma, mental health difficulties, and complex life circumstances.
This professional background, together with lived experience, has deepened my appreciation of the courage it can take to seek support and begin working towards the changes you hope to make. It has also shown me the importance of trust, dignity, and feeling genuinely heard.
No two people arrive with the same story, and I believe it is important to approach each person without assumptions. What I have learned, both professionally and personally, allows me to bring empathy and understanding to my work; however, I will never assume that my perspective is the same as yours. Your story remains your own, and you are the person who understands your life from the inside.
I created Calming Path Therapy because I am passionate about supporting people to make positive changes, whatever that may mean for them. I value the opportunity to be invited alongside someone as part of their individual journey.
My role is not to determine the direction you should take. It is to bring professional knowledge, careful listening, and a person-centred approach to our work together, supporting you as you move towards the goals that are meaningful to you.

Let’s Start with a Conversation
A website can only tell you so much about the person you may choose to work with. That is why I offer a complimentary introductory conversation, giving you an opportunity to speak with me directly, ask questions, and get a genuine sense of how I communicate and connect with you. There is no pressure or obligation to arrange a further appointment.
If you feel comfortable and would like to continue, we can then consider the next step together.
