These hypnotherapy terms and conditions explain the basis on which Calming Path Therapy provides its services. Please read them carefully before booking an appointment, as they contain important information about payments, cancellations, responsibilities, and the therapeutic relationship.
2. SERVICES
Calming Path Therapy currently provides one-to-one hypnotherapy online, face-to-face at an agreed location and, where appropriate, through agreed home visits.
Services are shaped around your individual needs, choices, and goals. Hypnotherapy is a collaborative process, and individual experiences vary. No particular result or outcome can be promised or guaranteed.
Hypnotherapy is not a replacement for medical diagnosis, medical treatment, psychiatric care, or emergency assistance. You should seek advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional regarding medical concerns and should not stop or change prescribed medication without appropriate medical advice.
Services are normally offered to adults aged 18 or over unless suitable arrangements have been discussed and agreed in advance.
3. SUITABILITY
A booking may be subject to an initial conversation or consultation to consider whether the requested service is appropriate for your needs and within my professional competence.
I may decline, postpone, end or recommend an alternative source of support where it would not be appropriate or safe to proceed. Where I decline or cancel a prepaid appointment before providing the service, you will receive a refund unless the cancellation results from your breach of these Terms and a lawful cancellation charge applies.
4. BOOKINGS AND PAYMENT
Service descriptions, appointment durations, and fees are displayed on the website before booking. Full payment is normally required when an appointment is booked unless another arrangement has been agreed upon in writing.
Your booking is confirmed when you receive confirmation from Calming Path Therapy. Please check the appointment type, date, time, location, and contact details and report any error promptly.
Packages provide a reduced rate for clients who choose to book several continuing sessions. There is no obligation to purchase a package or complete a particular number of sessions.
Any home-visit availability, location, and additional travel cost must be agreed upon before the appointment is confirmed.
5. YOUR STATUTORY CANCELLATION RIGHTS
Where you enter into a contract online, by telephone, or away from business premises, you may have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days without giving a reason. The cancellation period normally begins on the day after the contract is formed.
To exercise this right, contact duane@calmingpaththerapy.co.uk with a clear statement that you wish to cancel. You do not have to use any particular wording.
If you ask for an appointment to take place during the 14-day cancellation period, you expressly request that the service begin during that period. If you subsequently exercise your statutory right to cancel after part of the service has been provided, you may be required to pay a proportionate amount for the service already supplied.
Once a service has been fully provided during the cancellation period following your express request and acknowledgement, your statutory right to cancel that completed service may be lost.
Nothing in these Terms limits or removes any statutory rights available to you.
6. CANCELLING OR REARRANGING AN APPOINTMENT
Outside any applicable statutory cancellation right, please provide at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment.
Where at least 48 hours’ notice is provided, payment may be refunded or transferred to a rearranged appointment, as appropriate.
Where less than 48 hours’ notice is provided, or an appointment is missed, a charge may be retained up to the amount of the loss reasonably caused by the cancellation. This will normally be the full appointment fee where the reserved time cannot reasonably be offered to another client. Any amount retained will take account of applicable statutory rights and reasonable steps that can be taken to reduce the loss.
Unexpected and exceptional circumstances will be considered fairly and compassionately at my professional discretion.
7. CANCELLATION BY CALMING PATH THERAPY
If I need to cancel or rearrange an appointment, I will provide as much notice as reasonably possible. You may choose to transfer your payment to another available appointment or receive a refund for the service that has not been provided.
I am not responsible for additional losses outside the appointment fee where cancellation results from circumstances beyond my reasonable control. This does not limit any legal responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. PACKAGES
Package sessions are for the named client and may not be transferred to another person without prior written agreement.
If you decide to end a package, any refund for unused sessions will be calculated after accounting for sessions already provided at the applicable standard individual-session rate and any lawful cancellation charges. Your statutory cancellation rights remain unaffected.
9. ATTENDANCE, SAFETY AND PARTICIPATION
You are welcome to seek support if alcohol or substance use forms part of your experience, and this will be approached without judgement. However, you must be able to participate safely and provide informed consent throughout the session.
If you attend while intoxicated or sufficiently impaired that it would not be safe or appropriate to proceed, the session will be ended and treated as a late cancellation. The fee may be retained to the extent permitted by law and reflect the loss caused by the reserved appointment.
You must not attend an online appointment while driving. For online work, please join from a private, quiet location with a reliable connection. If the connection fails, I will make reasonable efforts to reconnect or agree on an appropriate next step.
For a home visit, you are responsible for providing a reasonably safe, private, and suitable environment. A home visit may be declined or ended if the environment is unsafe or unsuitable.
10. CONFIDENTIALITY
Information shared during hypnotherapy will be treated confidentially. Confidentiality may be limited where disclosure is required by law, necessary to address a serious risk of harm, required for safeguarding, or appropriately discussed through professional supervision.

11. PROFESSIONAL BOUNDARIES
Communication outside appointments is intended primarily for booking and administrative purposes. Email, text messages, and messaging services are not monitored continuously and must not be used for emergency or crisis support.
If you or another person is in immediate danger, call 999 or attend the nearest accident and emergency department. Other urgent support should be sought from an appropriate NHS or crisis service.
12. COMPLAINTS
If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of the service, please contact me using duane@calmingpaththerapy.co.uk so that I can understand your concern and seek to resolve it fairly.
Information about applicable professional standards and any relevant external complaint process will be provided upon request.
13. RESPONSIBILITY
Services will be provided with reasonable care and skill. You remain responsible for your personal choices, participation, and decisions outside sessions.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or any statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded.
14. PERSONAL INFORMATION
Personal information is processed in accordance with the Calming Path Therapy Privacy Notice. Please do not include medical history, diagnoses, or other sensitive information in ordinary booking-message fields or unsecured emails unless specifically requested through an appropriate process.
15. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
The version accepted when you make a booking will apply to that booking. These terms may be updated for future bookings to reflect changes in services, professional requirements, or the law. Material changes will not be applied retrospectively in a way that unfairly reduces your existing rights.
16. GOVERNING LAW
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Nothing in this section prevents you from relying upon any mandatory consumer rights or bringing a claim in a court available to you under applicable consumer law.
